The Botanical Story

The Gardens has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. The Gardens is the first and only tropical botanic garden on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Today, the Gardens is an important botanical institute. The bandstand, an octagon-shaped gazebo lies on the ground of the 82 hectares Singapore Botanic Gardens. Erected in 1930, it is only 71 younger than the Botanic Gardens itself.

How it got the name of being the bandstand is because regimental bands would perform here in the past. Although this gazebo is no longer in use for the original purpose, it is a timeless icon. In addition, all concerts and performances are now carried out at the Symphony Stage at another part of Botanic Gardens. Today, you can spot many happy couples taking wedding photos or even hold their cozy wedding solemnization here.
